Before I get into the meat of this post, I thought you might like to see some of my happy snaps from this weekend. The first three of Noah and Ethan were taken when we were at the park this morning while Harvey and Jack were training in Churchill Park. The boys each bravely tried new equipment beyond their previous exploits and were thrilled with the results (as you can see on their faces). The other boys (of the furry kind) have been sprawled on Noah and Ethan’s new Strawberry Jam Designs cushions every night after their human brothers have gone to bed.
So on to our hazelnut news, after meeting Tamar Valley hazelnut farmers last weekend and discovering another farm in the valley, we thought we’d stay close to home in our explorations this weekend and check out growing conditions in this area. We found some great areas around Rowella, Sidmouth, Exeter, Winkleigh and Glengarry – all within an easy 30-40 minute drive from Launceston.
Each of these areas is already home to food producers, wth vineyards, fruit orchards and dairy/livestock farms around every bend. This bodes well for our aspirations because we want to position our farm near others to capitalise on the existing traffic and reputation of the producers.
Armed with real estate guides, we found some great properties for sale that fit our requirements on the surface. It inspires us to get cracking and save for that deposit so we don’t let one of these great farms (like this one) pass us by.
