I do my best thinking while doing two things: walking and showering.
During this morning’s post-walk shower, I considered how much life had slowed during the self-isolation we’re all undertaking due to coronavirus. I started thinking about all the things people are doing more of – baking, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, exercising with their family… And then my thoughts turned to the last time I spent so much time at home: when I became a mother.
It has been almost 14 years since I became a mum. I started freelancing as a writer and marketer from the third bedroom, balancing my newborn son on my lap.
This circular thought process then brought me back to wondering how many others were spending time at home thinking up some amazing innovation. Whether self-isolation has given them the time to think big because they’re away from work, or they have lost their job due to this pandemic, I predict we’ll see lots of new businesses cropping up soon.
All these potential new operations in the pipeline made me think back to when I started out. I wrote Business & Baby on Board because it was the book I needed when I was a newbie entrepreneur. It was one of the best projects I’ve completed to date because it gave me the opportunity to interview 20 successful businesswomen. And then I compiled all those inspiring life stories and incredible business advice into a book.
I only have a handful of print copies of Business & Baby on Board left. I’d love to put them in the hands of someone who could really benefit from the advice contained in its pages. Let me know if you’d like to buy a copy. I’ll pay the postage – consider it my COVID-19 gift to you.
