The photo by no means does this fiery red tree justice, but I thought I’d include it anyway. Autumn has well and truly arrived in Tasmania and we’re all enjoying watching the season change (even if the days are shorter and the mornings are bracingly crisp).
It’s been a long time between posts, but life has definitely not stopped in the Baker-Dowdell household (even though it did slow considerably this week as we all succumbed to a cold).
Last week we found out the property at Glengarry we’ve been eyeing off for a few months had been taken off the market so we settled back into property searching with a vengeance. Harvey and Ethan visited a property now known as the “Goat Place” (because goats were actually living in it!) at Weegena, way off the beaten track. Harvey managed to get the car stuck in a ditch and needed to be pulled out by the real estate agent, but with no electricity, no mobile coverage and too much work to do it was scratched.
After some more online searching we set out to see some more this morning, starting with 35 acres and a one-bedroom house at Biralee, 14.5 acres and a three-bedroom house in Glengarry (right near the other property) and 14 acres at Badger Head. The first two look very promising and Harvey is going to look at them again next week. The third was too far away from where we want to be and the soil too sandy for our needs.
Harvey also found another property at Biralee on two acres with an amazing house that I’m sure he’ll look at too, even though we’d need to buy more land close by.
So, lots to think about – and I’ll try to be better with the updates.
